We have an exciting opportunity for a Computational Scientist to join an interdisciplinary team working on the development of DL_MONTE - a general purpose Monte Carlo code for the simulation of condensed phases. The project is to extend the functionality of DL_MONTE to include state-of-the-art Monte Carlo algorithms and to perform simulation studies of a number of physical systems spanning Soft Matter Physics and Materials Chemistry.
The Computational Scientist will take immediate responsibility for the planning, implementation, development, testing and optimisation of modules within the parallel program framework of DL_MONTE. Further duties will include maintenance of existing code and repositories, and scientific / programming support to researchers at collaborating institutions.
The position is on a 2 year fixed term basis and will be based in Bath under the supervision of Prof. N.B. Wilding and Prof. S.C. Parker. The role will involve intensive collaboration with partners at STFC Daresbury (where DL_MONTE was initiated), and will be carried out on a number of high-end computational facilities such as the Bath HPC, Hartree Centre BG/Q and iDataPlex architectures as well as on the Cray XC30 (ARCHER).
There will also be a requirement for occasional travel to visit stakeholder premises, including STFC Daresbury.
