Senior co-design manager - research data

Role brief

This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to use their project management and product development skills to specify, analyse, deliver and drive innovative new solutions focusing on the research data management area.

You will need excellent communication skills to co-design these solutions in close collaboration with our customers, relevant experts and representative bodies. To achieve this you will need to have an understanding or experience of how trends in technology in research data can be translated into new products or services that Jisc will deliver to support our customers.

Who you are:

  • A customer-focused individual with exceptional interpersonal skills
  • You have excellent oral and written communication skills to engage with the higher education ( HE ) sector and bodies such as the research councils
  • You have an ability to act and work independently and as an effective and enthusiastic team member

What you need to succeed:

  • Degree and/or relevant professional qualification
  • Demonstrated ability to apply an understanding of socio-economic, technological, geo-political and cultural trends to provide meaningful insights to how developments in your specialist area or sector can be harnessed to address the challenges facing research and education
  • Knowledge in the research, scholarship and research process area or sector
  • Knowledge - and preferably experience - of the methodologies, tools and technologies and administrative processes applicable to how researchers operate in the digital environment
  • An understanding and experience of how to elicit customer needs and of Jisc can respond to these
  • Experience in designing and delivering programmes of work or projects that will enable Jisc to deliver effective change in a specialist area or sector
  • Recent experience of project or programme management 

Previous experience in the following areas is desirable, but not essential:

  • Awareness and understanding of policy for higher education in the UK
  • Knowledge of digital infrastructure and digital library developments
  • Awareness of UK, European and international e-infrastructure for research

Location

Jisc has offices in various locations. This role can be based in Bristol or London. Jisc is a geographically distributed organisation and travel to other locations may be required.
