Jean-Alexandre Perras is Research Assistant at the Voltaire Foundation, Oxford. His research deals with the representations and the practices of sociability in the early modern period. Focussing on the history of Genius in the French early modern period, his thesis will be published at the Éditions Classiques Garnier in 2015. His work is focused on the cultural and literary history of Frivolity in eighteenth century, in relation with the questions of luxury, papillotage, persiflage and the representations of lightness in the eighteenth century France.
