Postdoctoral Research Associate (RA) (SS2761)

Type: Education & Research | Department: Pharmacy & Pharmacology | Location: Bath | Closing Date: 07 Dec 2014 | Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research fellow position to work with Dr Nikoletta Fotaki on a Technology Strategy Board (TSB)-funded project entitled “Accelerating paediatric formulation development through smart design and predictive science”.Leading pharmaceutical industries and academic groups are among the partners of this TSB-funded project. The overall goal of this project is to establish an industry standard framework and suite of tools to develop safe and efficacious paediatric dosage forms. University of Bath, in close collaboration with Bristol-Myers Squibb (UK) will focus on the development of reliable, predictive and physiologically relevant in vitro and in silico models of oral drug absorption as a function of age that can be used to facilitate the paediatric drug/formulation development process. The major goal is to develop a paediatric biorelevant dissolution methodology as a function of age and an absorption paediatric model as part of a whole Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model that will lead to more reliable clinical predictions. Applicants should have a PhD in a Biopharmaceutical or related research area. In addition, the applicant will have: •   an ability to think critically; good presentation skills (written and oral) •   an ability to manage own workload •   evidence of peer reviewed publications         •   a good understanding of drug development and delivery science, relevant laboratory experience               and good laboratory practice •   a good knowledge of biomodelling tools Informal enquires are welcome (n.fotaki@bath.ac.uk).
