CuRAtOR: Challenging Online Fear and Othering
The Department of Psychology is seeking a highly motivated and interdisciplinary social scientist to carry out research in the emerging field of social media analytics on the ESRC funded project, "CuRAtOR: Challenging Online Fear and Othering". The successful candidate will work within an interdisciplinary collaboration with colleagues at the Universities of Lincoln, Newcastle, Aberdeen and Nottingham on the design and evaluation of digital experiences and social media that challenge conventional thoughts about marginalised and stigmatised communities. The team of computer science and social scientists require a researcher with diverse skill sets to investigate the social and psychological processes that underlie these phenomena.
In this role, you will identify and review a relevant literature base for the project; prepare ethical approval documentation; design and conduct qualitative and quantitative studies of social media data and associated analyses; collaborate with computer scientists and software developers to scope and build new software tools, and prepare manuscripts for publication. You must have research experience in the analysis of social media and relevant skills in conducting social science research. You will be able to show evidence of the development of innovative methodological approaches for handling social media data and experience working with social media data collection and analysis as a social scientist. Evidence of a strong publication record and a relevant PhD is required.
This post is fixed-term for up to 33 months.
